Assessment
A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a comprehensive examination of a person’s function across daily activities and environments.
Purpose
The FCA is used to justify the funding or supports required for the participant.
Process
An FCA generally involves an interview and the completion of standardised and non-standardised assessments.
Outcome
The FCA identifies a participant’s support needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate level of funding in their NDIS plan.
Timing
FCAs can be completed at various stages of a participant’s NDIS journey, including initial acceptance, when there’s a change in circumstances, or at plan review times.
Report Content
The FCA report includes the participant’s medical history, social history, impact on carers (if relevant), a home environment evaluation, and a functional assessment.

What is a Functional Capacity Assessment 

A Functional Capacity Assessment or FCA is a comprehensive assessment of a person’s function across a range of daily activities and environments.

 

A FCA will identify a participant’s support needs to ensure they receive the appropriate level of funding in their NDIS plan.

  • Environmental evaluation & detailed scope of home environment

  • Summary of personal & self care skills

  • Mobility and transfers, including falls risk and mobility devices or aids

  • Community mobility, including driving and public transport

  • Work and/ or educational activities

  • Psycho-social skills, including social interactions and emotional management

  • Communication skills & any limitations

  • Recreational and non-vocational activities

  • Assessment of cognitive skills and any difficulties or limitations

  • Summary of bowel and bladder management and any difficulties

Our OT's provide services via telehealth or face-to-face appointments individually for clients in their home or residential facility across metro Melbourne.
